The Gatsby House is absolutely dreamy

The Gatsby House is absolutely dreamy! From the gorgeous windows and beautiful patio to the HUGE, private yard, every detail made our stay feel truly magical. We loved picking fresh pears, raspberries, and apples right from the property, it felt like a little fairytale. The home is beautifully appointed and sits directly on the river, making kayaking incredibly easy and convenient. The whole experience felt like stepping onto another continent, surrounded by such a unique and peaceful setting. The location is fantastic, too, centrally situated between two towns, so it was easy to pop out for dinner, groceries, candy, or anything else we needed. And the hosts were delightful, warm, responsive, and wonderful to work with. We highly recommend the Gatsby House to anyone looking for a truly special getaway. It was everything we hoped for and more!

Great place on the river

Great place on the river. You can’t see the river from the house or porch like some other houses in that area, but the yard and garden area (pretty much an estate) in the backyard with lawns and fruit trees and so many places to sit, was amazing. Very big 3 bedroom house, lots of cool features, and an entirely separate 1-bedroom house. Stayed there with 3 adults and a teen. Jennifer and Jordan are excellent hosts, and go out of their way to help, including bring us a coffee grinder and mailing lost sunglasses! Some landscape maintenance people came one morning and startled one of the guests who was sleeping. The hosts didn’t know they were coming, but the maintenance men left right away after we spoke with them. I found the house a little cluttered with knick-knacks from the era, but I know that’s supposed to be the style of the house. Hot tub was great, and we enjoyed the 3 kayaks. 🙂

Inside, warm natural light fills the main living spaces, creating an easy, comfortable atmosphere to gather with family and friends. Whether you’re sharing a slow breakfast at the dining table, sipping coffee while the morning light comes through the windows, or curling up after a day on the river, everything here invites you to stay a little longer and breathe a little deeper.

The kitchen is fully equipped for home-cooked meals, with everything you need to cook comfortably during your stay. Mornings feel especially peaceful here, with a choice of drip coffee, French press, or pour-over as the house gently comes to life.

The home offers four delightfully decorated bedrooms across the property, giving everyone a unique space to unwind. Upstairs, the primary bedroom features a king bed and charming private ensuite bathroom, while two thoughtfully curated queen bedrooms offer beautifully decorated, bespoke spaces for family or friends. Just steps away above the garage, the private guest suite offers its own retreat, complete with a queen bed, sleeper sofa, fully stocked kitchenette, and full bathroom—ideal for guests who appreciate a little extra privacy while still being close to the group.

Outside is where the river lifestyle truly comes alive. Spend your days moving between the water and the yard, whether it’s launching from your private dock, floating on the river, or simply sitting quietly by the edge with your feet in the sun. In the evenings, the hot tub becomes the perfect place to unwind, followed by time around the fire pit as the sky softens and the stars begin to appear. A hammock, BBQ grill, and open outdoor spaces make it easy to settle into the rhythm of river life.

Families are well cared for here too, with thoughtful amenities including a crib, high chair, changing table, toys, and children’s dinnerware to make traveling with little ones feel simple and comfortable.

Notes

We welcome up to two dogs with prior approval, and we simply ask that they are kept off furniture, never left unattended, and cleaned up during and after your stay.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, including outdoor areas. Quiet hours are observed from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM to keep the setting peaceful for everyone.

Hot tub use is not permitted after 11:00 PM.

To help maintain a respectful environment, parties, unauthorized gatherings, and illegal substances are not allowed on the property.

📌To ensure a seamless check-in, all guests must complete a quick pre-check-in verification through our secure guest portal; a link will be sent after your booking is confirmed.

📌Please note that during the rainy season (typically October through March), outdoor furniture cushions are stored away to protect them from the elements and ensure they remain clean and dry. Consequently, outdoor seating may not be set up as pictured during these months.

Neighborhood

The Gatsby is located in the Northwood Golf community, just outside the relaxed river town of Monte Rio, where life moves a little slower and nature is always close by. You’re just minutes from sandy river beaches like Monte Rio Beach, the towering redwoods at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, and the scenic coastline of Sonoma Coast. The wider Sonoma County region offers endless opportunities for wine tasting, dining, and exploring charming small towns.

Getting Around

While you’ll feel tucked away in your own private riverfront retreat, The Gatsby is ideally located in the heart of the Russian River area. A car is highly recommended, and the drive along River Road and through Monte Rio is scenic, peaceful, and part of the experience itself. Free parking for up to 4 vehicles is available on-site, along with an EV charger.

From the home, you can step right down to the river for swimming, kayaking, or simply relaxing by the water. When you’re ready to explore, nearby beaches, redwood forests, wineries, and coastal drives are all within easy reach.
